The Pedagogy at Catholic University Graduate School aims to foster leading educational professionals and researchers who can practice ethical leadership based on sound values and exercise creative professional abilities to explore, solve, and adjust various educational issues in diverse and complex educational situations and rapid changes in the social environment, and further lead the future of education.

The Pedagogy began in 2018 with master's and doctoral programs in three majors, including Catholic Education, Reading Education, and Continuing Education, and has since added a major in Educational Administration in 2021, a major in Early Childhood Education in 2022, a major in Lifelong Learning Counseling in 2023, and a major in Special Education in 2024, for a total of seven majors. As such, the Department of Graduate Education at Catholic University is a continuously growing department that operates differentiated majors and specialized curricula that are difficult to find in other universities.

Objectives

The Pedagogy at Catholic University fosters the ability of educational leaders to lead society by cultivating professional abilities to understand and analyze the educational needs of a changing society based on the spirit of respect for human beings, to solve educational problems in various situations critically, creatively, and logically, and to cultivate the capacity for inquiry that connects educational theory and practice.

About majors

Lifelong Learning Counseling Major

As a representative institution that operates doctoral programs in the field of career education and career counseling in Korea, it explores various life and career development, choices, development, and adaptation of human beings throughout their lives from the perspective of respect for human beings, and trains professionals who can research and practice career education and career counseling issues in various fields such as public and private sectors.

Early Childhood Education Major

Based on the qualities of respect for human beings, the program fosters the expertise of educators who have expertise in the theory and practice of early childhood education, explore and solve problems in early childhood education through research, and lead the field of early childhood education.

Special Education Major

To foster special education professionals who provide diagnosis and evaluation, introduction of effective teaching and learning strategies based on evidence-based practices, counseling and case management, and related services to students with disabilities who have difficulties in personal activities or social participation due to functional limitations or situational factors, and who are committed to the realization of the common good based on respect for human life.

Educational Leadership Major

To cultivate educators who are capable of conducting research to solve problems of effective teaching and learning, curriculum, and educational policy and to promote developmental directions; to plan and operate comprehensive and holistic educational support measures; and to practice and lead educational leadership based on ethical leadership with practical capabilities to implement various disciplines and interdisciplinary approaches.
